Drought Could Shut Down Nuclear Power Plants
LAKE NORMAN, N.C. - Nuclear reactors across the Southeast could be forced to throttle back or temporarily shut down later this year because drought is drying up the rivers and lakes that supply power plants with the awesome amounts of cooling water they need to operate.
A man fishes next to the water outflows of the McGuire Nuclear Station near Lake Norman, N.C., on Monday. Lake Norman has dropped to about a foot above the minimum level needed for a backup system at the plant.

What's Got Your Tongue????
O.K.! This IS Bizarre! This parasitic crustacean feasts on the blood of the spotted rose snapper fish by attaching to its tongue. After several days the tongue atrophies and falls off. Instead of leaving the poor fishy tongue-less the parasite attaches itself to the muscular base of the tongue and serves as a replacement. Since the fish can use the parasite as it would an actual tongue the only negative effect for the fish is a small loss of food, which is eaten by the parasite. C. exigua is the only known parasite that functionally replaces a host's organ. Although this parasite is usually found off the coast of California it was recently found in the United Kingdom, most likely indicating that its range is expanding. Go here.

NASA Reports Life On Mars
An undated NASA handout photograph of Mars taken by the Mars Explorer Spirit shows what seems to be a figure striding across the surface of the planet. The image was taken from panoramic images taken by Spirit November 6-9, 2007.
It turns out, it's just a rock. In his blog, MSNBC.com science editor Alan Boyle quotes Cornell astronomer Jim Bell, who heads the scientific team behind the Mars rovers' panoramic cameras. "It's a funky little bizarre wind-carved rock formation," Bell said. "It's not unusual at all." Bell has apparently become very familiar with the image, having received dozens of calls from reporters asking about what some describe as a mermaid or Bigfoot. Go here to read it all---

Bruce Haney---'Brain Fog'

"Bruce Haney is an ordinary person who came out of the silent majority to become a recognized expert in the field of behavioral toxicology because of circumstance. Sixteen years ago he found himself horribly misdiagnosed by a then and still disbelieving medical community. An ornamental horticulturist, Mr. Haney had been slowly poisoned by the pesticides he used in his trade. These pesticides and chemicals had invaded his nervous system and brain. A team of doctors, private and state, insisted he simply suffered from extreme anxiety and depression.
Neither our society nor our system of government easily accommodate individuals who are outside the normal pattern. Bruce does not fit that pattern.
He is a brilliant scientific researcher. Most researchers specialize in a narrow area of scientific knowledge and are reluctant to draw conclusions fearing there is more still to be unearthed. Bruce has repeatedly demonstrated an amazing ability to combine separate scientific strands of knowledge to reach new conclusions." Click below for more about our close friend, Bruce Haney, who passed away Dec. 29th, 2007 in his home of a heart attack. Buy his book 'Brain Fog' . It has a great deal to say about perticide's and chemical's effect on our nervous system and brain. Bruce lived with us for awhile and played the harmonica too.

Plastic Wastes in our Oceans
Amanda Wood reports "In one of the few places on Earth where people can rarely be found, the human race has well and truly made its mark. In the middle of the Pacific Ocean lies a floating garbage patch twice the size of Britain. A place where the water is filled with six times as much plastic as plankton. This plastic-plankton soup is entering the food chain and heading for your dinner table.Continents of garbage in the oceans are killing marine life and releasing poisons that enter the human food chain," Read her whole article here.

Quote Of The Day

Are Chemical Food Additives Slowly Killing Our Children?
Let me start by saying a chemical additive doesn't necessarily 'appear' to be a problem immediately after ingestion. Quite often the effects are cumulative; a gradual build-up in the body produces roller-coaster days, some good, some bad. Some children are more sensitive to food chemicals and display immediate effects soon after ingestion of additives, colours in particular. In small amounts additives are not harmful. Effects are dose related and, tragically, dose for weight, children are consuming several times more additives than the acceptable daily intake (ADI). Before we get into the details of the most common problem foods, it is necessary to understand the testing and approval process, with emphasis on those factors that may confer the level of risk of toxic additives in infants and young children's diets. Metaphysics Here

Metaphysics is defined as the study of ultimate reality. But what is the nature of that ultimate reality? Is it only material? Is it non-material? The word "metaphysics" comes from the root words "meta" meaning beyond and "physics" meaning the physical world. But is there a reality beyond the physical world? The various answers to this question have produced various metaphysical theories. Go here----http://www.philosophyclass.com/metaphysics.htm
