It's Easter-Time...I've Got Just The Weirdest Video...Look

by Hey Paul Studios cc
Tomorrow's Easter...Cool. So, today, I spent some time looking for cool Easter Stuff, you know for Easter. AND, I found this really weird Easter video on GIZMODO.COM, 'cause I love  those wonderful CADBURY EASTER EGGS or HERE, don't you? AND, everyone loves those little PEEPS or HERE or HERE, anytime of year. So, of course, this video caught my eye...yummy....my mouth's watering...and I'm figuring out a way to let my BARTLETT know just what I'm looking for tomorrow in my Easter basket...then I saw the gun..what? NOT Cool... BE CAREFUL with that thing, will ya? It's gonna hurt someone or SOMETHING...like Easter Eggs and Peeps...Oh NO!!...NOT that.
Well, watch this video...but, be prepared...sit down, take a few deep breathes, and a BIG glass of cold water first.. after all it's Easter, for goodness sakes..O.K? Jan

What The Heck Is Creative Commons Anyway? Just FREE ADVERTISING, That's All...WOW

    by rawlands cc
Lately, we became 'painfully' aware of several folks, some of them, our very best friends that were very confused about CREATIVE COMMONS. They were wondering 'bout it's uses and if putting any of their [and Steve's, by the way] very talented and hard-earned music, artwork, photos etc., up on BARTLETT'S ON BASS give their Copyright 'away'?
Well, I know 'Creative Commons is new for some people....
So, I put up the statement at the top of our creative commons sites...so, everyone can plainly see..."Portions of this work contain the intellectual property of third party authors and contributors. As such, third party authors and contributors retain all copyrights in the individual works and reserve all rights not specifically granted herein"
'COPYRIGHTED' material is NEVER giving away... of course not, your copyright is always safe!....This might help, ..Here's a link of some well known online business's that you know, that ARE involved: Read and link HERE    [BIG Hint: GOOGLE, FLICKR, WIKIPEDIA etc. and even millions more]
This is what Creative Commons is...."Our tools give everyone from individual creators to large companies and institutions a simple, standardized way to keep their copyright while allowing certain uses of their work — a “some rights reserved” approach to copyright" Link below:

    CREATIVE COMMONS: "Our mission
Creative Commons develops, supports, and stewards legal and technical infrastructure that maximizes digital creativity, sharing, and innovation.

    Our vision

Our vision is nothing less than realizing the full potential of the Internet — universal access to research and education, full participation in culture — to drive a new era of development, growth, and productivity." Link HERE
So, BARTLETT'S ON BASS uses this license:
    "Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs

This license is the most restrictive of our six main licenses, only allowing others to download your works and share them with others as long as they credit you, but they can’t change them in any way or use them commercially.", Link above, under Our Vision.

And more..' FREE ADVERTISING' below. 'Whew', I'm all worn out by all this legal talk....BUT, don't worry, guys. SMILE, Jan

Here's a video from cc Qatar on YOUTUBE, about CREATIVE COMMONS. It's called MEET CREATIVE COMMONS. This is what the page says: Published on Mar 28, 2012
CC Qatar Releases New Video on How Creative Commons Works

In as many ways we can use Creative Commons to share, learn, and communicate with like-minded people around the globe, we can explain what it is that Creative Commons does. There are countless blogs, pictures, lectures, and songs on the benefits of CC. This time around, however, we've worked with the highly creative animators of WikiKiwis to produce an informative and entertaining animation explaining why and how Creative Commons achieves what it does best; promote sharing and creative content generation while respecting intellectual property rights.
The animation [comically] depicts creative people as they innovate with arts, science, literature, and music only to be hindered by the current strict regulations on copyrights. These regulations often do well with regards to protecting intellectual property in the physical, but their outdated restrictions compromises our ability as a global network of creative content creators to share and modify work freely and openly. Enter Creative Commons: the protagonist of the story that helps us all share, mix and remix -- while respecting copyrights! By providing content licenses which are primarily designed to allow for creative works to be used, modified, and shared, Creative Commons paves the way for a global community of inspired and inspirational content creators and users that can-in turn-revolutionize the way we work together through the Internet.
Check our video and feel free to use it as you want -- keep it moving forward!

Celebrate MARK SWAMBURG and BILL PALMATEER .

    by Patrick Doheny cc
Today, I just read some very sad news on FACEBOOK, posted by TIM HALL...about the death of two of this area's talented musicians,  That's our long time friend, MARK SWAMBURG and also BILL PALMATEER, a musician that we didn't personally know. What a shock to hear of Mark Swamburg's passing. I just called Steve in and let him know the sad news.
Steve and I knew Mark for many years..a fine guitarist, that we met the first time at THE SUMMIT PUB in Puyallup at those Tuesday night jams that Kevin Christensen/drums hosted for so long.
Later, Mark booked a fun gig near Shelton and hired BARTLETT as Bassman. Cool... I was always welcome too, was still getting around with my walker, and almost rolled down a steep driveway getting into the Community Event Building. I remember that there was food, friendly, helpful people who enjoyed the music. Mark had organized the show well, and it was a lot of fun.
We met up with Swamburg again, when he sat in and played with Steve at THE LIQUID SOUL COFFEED ROASTERs in McKenna, Washington. He enjoyed meeting owner/guitarist MARTIN SALINAS and KENNY WILLIAMSON/drums.
Mark would call or Email us often, he was ready in short notice and loved to play...we remember him always with music and ready to gig. We'll both miss his friendship, support, love of music. Thank you MARK.
TIM HALL [thank you Tim,..Jan] has organized a Life Celebration for Mark and Bill on Sunday, March 24 at 7 pm. at DAWSON's BAR AND GRILL, in Tacoma, Washington...Address: 5443 S Tacoma Way Tacoma, WA 98409
    (253) 476-1421

BARTLETT ON BASS Having Fun Photo

Steve Bartlett by Jan Rose-Bartlett cc 2010
This happy photo was taken of my BARTLETT at the now closed, LIQUID SOUL COFFEE ROASTERS in McKenna, Washington in 2010. Owned by Barb., and Martin Salinas. Steve loves music and it shows...I [Jan] took this photo.

This Device Let's Us ALL HEAR Colors...WOW

What these sound like? Photo by unknown cc
Today, I found a very interesting post on the BUSINESS INSIDER that talks about this color-blind guy named NEIL HARBISSON. Harbisson created a device in 2004 that lets him sense colors, called  a EYEBORG . It also lets the deaf do just the opposite or 'hear' or sense music, done by sensing a frequency and .translating the song back into the colors they've learned to associate with different sounds. To read more, go HERE. .
The device detects the over 350 colors that our normal human eye can see, and infrared light too. ... [Wild THOUGHT: 'Wow..wonder how many colors that we CAN'T see'...Jan]. "Hearing colors changes the way you see everything," Harbisson says. The blind can also be helped by the EYEBORG...
Here's a video about NEIL HARBISSON and the EYEBORG. I found this on YOUTUBE, from VentureVillageVideos . It's called, NEIL HARBISSON: THE CYBORG WHO HEARS COLOUR. This is more of what it says on the page:  "Published on Aug 28, 2012
Born with the rare disorder of complete colour blindness, Catalan-raised Neil Harbisson devised a unique way to understand colour - by hearing it.
Armed with a prosthetic device to translate colours into real-time sounds, Harbisson tours the world, educating others about the possibilities of man-made technological body extensions. "Stop creating apps for our phones and start creating apps for our bodies", was his on-stage catchcry at Campus Party 2012.
We caught up with Harbisson in Berlin last week to catch a glimpse into his musically shaded world."

WHEEZER Rock Cruise?..Whoops, That's WEEZER...Am I Getting Old Or What?

    by unknown cc
O.K. Today I was checking out this 'alternative' rock band called WEEZER....What?.. am I getting old or something? What have I been doing, where have I been? This group's won Grammys and are having CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES set up 'Weezer Cruises' for them for 2014 already, where this band is the entertainment. And, I've read that the Weezer Cruises have no problems selling the tickets FAST....WOW.
And, I'd never heard of the band before today.... So, pulled them up on YOUTUBE...and took a listen, and peek.  What is this? I asked..well,.they look like normal guys...honesty, a bit 'nerdy' to me,.. really...then, I listened...Boy, was I in for a surprise...all of them were singing at once, and then talking/singing 'bout a sweater or something. It was a bit confusing for me...reminds me...get new batteries for my my hearing aide...just kidding.
But, I didn't give up and listened to a few more Weezer tunes...pretty soon, I was really enjoying these out-of-box guys, and their videos too. AND, that 'nerdy-look' was rubbing off on me and just helping me feel right at home, then I was smiling.... These guys ARE GREAT, Very Entertaining..I'm looking into getting our tickets for their next cruise...cool. Jan

Oh. I almost forgot, but Steve reminded me...Here's a story of MY 7 day Birthday Cruise, thanks,..again. JON BARONI/keys/harp/vocals.

KAYCEY MUSGRAVES.... Best New Female Country Vocalist

    by familymwr cc
O.K...Just read in USA TODAY that the new girl on the block [for me anyway, Jan] KAYCEY MUSGRAVES is hoping to come home as the best new female vocalist and more at THE ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS in April....Yes, Cool,...You know, She's so young, beautiful and very talented, this really puts a big smile on my face.  Her single, 'Merry Go Round' is a hit and one of my favorites. Looking at her history, I found out that I was wrong,  she's been in music  a long time, most of her life, and deserves lots of awards.
KAYSEY has always loved country music, and I thought it interesting that she began as a 'yodeler' as a young girl and yodeling got her the gig at the 2002 WINTER OLYMPICS. As a teen was very active in western music, and she dropped yodeling and self-released three [3] albums before she was 18...WOW. Then, she moved to NASHVILLE enter some country singing contest and came in 7th....What??.. BUMMER. Everyone likes Musgrave's songs, what a strong, beautiful voice and original real life lyrics too.... Don't worry, Kaycey, you'll be sure and win the Academy of Country Music Award next month. Jan

This Is Your Brain On MUSIC or Speaking The Language Of Music

    by ^riza^ cc
WOW..For today, I read online that...those very smart brain scientists' at JOHNS HOPKINS have been discovering a lot 'bout your brain on music lately. They even said.."Medicine is almost the physical embodiment of music.", well, I knew that [Jan..SMILE]...Also, Did you know that our brains 'think' of.music as another form of language..just.like Chinese or English?... Well, it's true, it looks like our brain's do just that.
Those same scientist's studied the brains of some jazz musicians to see what's going on when they're doing what they do while performing. They found out these jazz musicians were using the language areas in their brains, as well as areas used in being creative, artistic or even solving math problems. Very interesting. Jan

    by daveynin cc
I found online this morning a very interesting post about this wonderful lady who not only loves music but owns a Tezas-based company called LotuSIGN, that helps everyone have a great experience with live music...Even, the hard of hearing and deaf...very cool, Ms. Parker.  Yes,this beautiful lady is named BARBIE PARKER, and she's 45.
She not only signs the lyrics, but it sounds like she even has the set lists and plays air guitars and air drums, while she moves with the music and mouths the vocals. Really she jams along with bands at live music shows. WOW...What a lady! I love this...Jan.
