What?.. Music Can Hurt You?..NAH....NO WAY

see photo credit
Look what I found on BBC NEWS today. This IS just RIDICULOUS...'I' have listened to more music than those 'doctors' or 'the World Health Organization' can shake a stick at...AND just look at me , will ya?,...O.K, O.K. let's find another example. And, while I'm looking for another example,.... let's all have a little laugh and concider what 'they' have to say.
Well, first off..here's a quote..." People should listen to music for no more than one hour a day to protect their hearing, the World Health Organization suggests.?: ' Haha....just as 'I' thought....they 'suggest' this. Is it true or not guys'. Come right out AND spill the beans...O.K., O.K. let's see...then it says, AND I quote again..." It says 1.1 billion teenagers and young adults are at risk of permanently damaging their hearing by listening to "too much, too loudly".
It said audio players, concerts and bars were posing a "serious threat"....Well, 'as almost a musician 'I' [of course, Jan] say 'What the ??....EVERYBODY KNOWS that music is meant to be LOUD...the louder, the better...ain't it? 'huh'? AND, There's no such thing as too much music.  Remember...it says 'it's only a 'risk'...nothing we have to really worry about at all.. There's so many other reasons for deafness...like having wax or beans or something in your ears OR like you're paying attention to something else...yea, like what kinda music is it anyway? It's some good music or not? Is it music that's not worth listening to, that's all.  Glad I could straighten this out for everyone....'huh'...what did you say? Jan

'Live Long And Prosper...'Mr. Spock', : LEONARD NIMOY Dead @ 83

See photo credit
Sad  news'  Mr. Spock' or LEONARD NIMOY, havn't found a personal site, look at 'Star Trek' and HERE [from Wikipedia] of STAR TREK has died. He was 83 years old. WOW...Hey, Glasses..Way Cool Dude....Let's Party Hardy Tonight O.K?

by George Takei.
This is just an amazing photo that's all...Just reminding me once again just how much fun..a little music and some really cool stuff adds to every party, special event or even just sitting around the house looking good.
You know those 'party' glasses look mighty familiar to me. I know my mom bought me a pair almost exactly like these but, of course, with blue glitter on the very blue horn-rim frames way back in 1957. She said it made my blue eyes....look even BLUER. WOW...Every girl or guy even wants glasses like THAT.  I thought. So, I wore those  'cool' blue-sparkly'  horn-rimmed glasses for several years without complaint, thinking I was IT.. Thanks a lot Mom. You helped make me who I am today. Jan
I found this photo on FACEBOOK this morning from George Takei.
Here's a video about horn rim glasses. This was the first music I remember making wearing glasses O.K.This video is called 'The Girl With The Horn Rimmed Glasses' from TheGoodlucks. This is what the page says: " Published onNov 20, 2012
A goofy little song, recorded in 1965 -- performed here on the '60s TV show "Shindig", by Carole Shelyne, who was a featured dancer on the show. Carole stood out among the other dance performers on "Shindig" because of her oversized glasses, which led to much popularity and fan mail, and eventually, this novelty song, She appeared on numerous TV shows of the 1960s. Carole now works under the name Carolyne Barry as a successful casting director and acting coach. Her long and interesting career in the entertainment business can be viewed here:http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0791418 . For anyone interested, she has a website http://www.carolynebarry.com" Jan

At 60 Is ANNIE LENNOX Acting Her Age?.. .What's 'Ageless' Act Like? Anyway

Annie Lennox, from WIKIPEDIA/ see l
O.K., read online that MADONNA and ANNIE LENNOX, photo link, may not be acting their ages, [from HUFFPOST GAY VOICES] Madonna being 56 now and Lennox 60. that's a good question. What does 'ageless' look like anyway? This might be a 'touchy' subject for some ordinary...quote 'old folk'....but, you know, talent and entertaining doesn't have a age to it, does it?...neither does that 'sparkle' in one's eyes, wisdom, humor...or THAT look from a beloved  family member.
What are 'we' then? When a friend or family member 'dies'...I miss those other things...more than their body. I believe we are more than age and more than a body.  Go Annie, go...do whatever you like. I love it. Don't stop because someone says..'you're too old'...there is no such thing.
So...'I' think, ..there is NO certain way anyone should act at any age. Now, let's find out more 'bout Annie Lennix.
Lennix is a Scotish singer/song writer and more....she's really cool. She was sucessful in the '70's but REALLY hit the big time with the EURYTHMICS in the 80's. Wikipedia says: "  With a total of eight Brit Awards, including Best British Female Artist six times, Lennox has won more than any other female artist. She has also been named the "Brits Champion of Champions".[1]"".
Lennox became a solo artist in 1992.  She is MY cup of tea....right on Annie...She's always home or right on for me...and really gives a hoot 'bout  her world...our World... and what's going on around her. AND, She makes a real difference, she's not out just to make money or a name for herself. She's always been active in her chosen charities A tireless campaigner for rightous and meaningful changes in the world.' Right On Annie....You Go For It...I support you 100 %. '
Check her out on ALL the social places...you know..FACEBOOK, TWITTER, etc. links posted on her site above. She has a blog too, that keeps everyone updated on ALL her activities....Check it out. O.K? Jan

BOB DYLAN Likes His 'Friends' and Gets Even With His 'Enemies..Of Course...

BOB DYLAN ,see photo credit cc
Guess what I found today on THE ROLLING STONE? A story about my favorite artist, namely BOB DYLAN. and HERE.  Dylan's getting another award ,,of course, he was named 'Person of the Year' for 2015 by MUSICARES.. Guess, he got to give a speech and used the time to as Rolling Stone said, quote " used the spotlight to both slam his "detractors" and thank his "supporters." in his about 30 minute long speech.. Well, when he  ever gonna get a chance like this again?...you know, he's getting kinda old. I always think of him as one of us 'Hippies' from the 60's, so, maybe it's now or never as they say.
So, who does Bob like? There's JOAN BAEZ, JIMI HENDRIX, JOHNNY CASH, THE BYRDS,, PETER,. PAUL and  MARY,, NINA SIMONE and THE TURTLES....'Whew'...I was sweating it out.. Dylan especially thanked JIMI HENDRIX and JOHNNY CASH...saying  about Hendrix quote.." I actually saw Jimi perform when he was with a band called Jimmy James and the Blue Flames. Something like that. And Jimi didn't even sing. He was just the guitar player," Dylan said. "He took some small songs of mine that nobody paid any attention to and brought them up into the outer limits of the stratosphere, turned them all into classics. I have to thank Jimi, too. I wish he was here."
Dylan really appreciated JOHNNY CASH too...saying this." "Johnny Cash recorded some of my songs early on, too," Dylan said. "I met him about '63, when he was all skin and bones. He traveled long, he traveled hard, but he was a hero of mine. I heard many of his songs growing up. I knew them better than I knew my own. 'Big River,' 'I Walk the Line.' 'How High's the Water, Mama'? I wrote 'It's Alright Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)' with that song reverberating inside my head."...Cash was a supporter of Dylans and told folks to leave Dylan alone when he started performing with his electric guitar way back when. Well, of course, seems like Dylan admired Cash so much for his support at that important time in his life, Cash really affected him..
Please read the rest of this story on THE ROLLING STONE about the Musicares PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARD for 2015, given to Bob Dylan. Find out who else Dylan mentions and why. O.K?..

Victor Wooten Super Bass Solo Technique (1992) [FULL]...or Who's Who in BASS?

VICTOR WOOTEN see photo credit

O.K.VICTOR WOOTEN  and HERE is a bassman who always comes out on top when talking about bassmen that BARTLETT admires. This video 'Victor Wooten Bass Lesson [thankfagocista1980s ]' is I think [Jan, of course] one of Wooten's finest. I know it's about an hour long...BUT, it's fun and you'll know how to play like a pro....Steve and I just watched the whole video after watching some videos of Victor Wooten's Bass Solos. I'll post them below. O.K? This was our favorite and has amazing performances with the BASS instruction.
BARTLETT learns alot from Wooten and watches him every chance he gets.
To me [Jan] Steve sounds like a combination of JACO PASTOROUS/VICTOR WOOTEN and STANDLEY CLARKE....O.K.That brings up the question 'Who's Who in Bass'? So, I'm re-posting an earlier story of mine about great bassmen...Enjoy. Jan-

Who's STANLEY CLARKE?..or..Just Who's Who In Bass? JAZZ Stuff

by cloud2013 cc
Where have I been, anyway? I've just discovered STANLEY CLARKE, andHERE...a bass guy... not just a bass guy...A GENIUS BASS GUY, I might add. BARTLETT, thinks Clarke's absolutely amazing. He's a jazz bassist and composer, but WIKIPENDIA says he's also a jazz fusion, rock, pop, R & B, and funk bass guy...he played with some of Steve's favorites, HORACE SILVER and HERE and CHICK COREA and HERE and the like, so many other genius jazz musicians. Steve said that VICTOR WOOTEN andHERE talked about him and says Stanley inspirired him and was one of his heros.
Clarke made many albums with others and solo albums too, and, in the '70's, his album called 'School Days' full album, [thanks Jimmy Jammer] is one of the most famous bass solo recordings of all time. So, here's a short list of the best, in my humble opinion, I know, I know there's more fantastic bass people, but, I can't think of them right now, so here's my list for just today...the best bassists of all time...  Let's see, there's JACO PASTORIUS and HERE ROCCO PRESTIA,  RICHARD BONA and HERE,MARCUS MILLER and HERE, VICTOR WOOTEN [link above], TAL WILKENFELDRICK LAIRD, and HERE, BARTLETT ON BASS [smile], DONALD DUCK DUNN and HERE and of course STANLEY CLARKE Can you think of any others?...Wait a minute, I just thought of someone else...there was this really good bass lady, who I saw and heard performing with STEVIE WONDER and HERE on a video once. Who was she? I'll try to find her. I never forget names  I always know right now......just a moment please. Jan
I'm gonna post this video I saw of STANLEY CLARKE doing a really cool bass solo on an upright bass or double bass that I found on YOUTUBE. Jan
It's called 'Staney Clarke upright bass solo', from ÐœÐ¸Ñ…аил Крайнов. This is what the video page says: " Uploaded on Jan 15, 2007
Great solo on upright bass by Stanley Clarke".
